Lesson 2.1.5
Load Types + Combinations (Supplemental Lesson)
Lesson Overview
This important and useful supplemental lesson is a review of basic load types and combinations. A look into the ASCE-7 load code examines which loads need to be considered, their direction (not always downward), and typical values used to estimate loads. Load paths are considered – how loads are transferred from their point of application down to the ground. Load paths are charted, through the available structural members – roofs, floors, beams and columns – down to the foundation and into the ground.
