MODULE 1 - SITE CONDITIONS + REGULATORY SYSTEMS
Our first course Module: M1 Site Conditions will introduce you to a range of systems: regulatory and environmental, which help guide and shape the initial schematic design strategies of the architect. The Module is organized around three main Topics:
M1.1 Code and Regulatory Systems: Lessons which introduce the broad role that building codes play in shaping the design of a building project.
M1.2 Environmental Analysis: Lessons which introduce how to understand existing environmental conditions on a site and develop preliminary sustainable design strategies for optimizing the quality of air and light and energy utilization.
M1.3 Egress Systems: Lessons which introduce designing stair and elevator cores that follow code requirements.
Exercise 1: Working with the Building Code:
Assignment 1: Code Review Document:
Students in Section 002 should review Assignment 1: Code Review Document at this time. Developing your Code Review document will require you to provide documentation that your project meets code requirements for egress for your project. This series of Lessons has been developed in order to assist you in understanding egress issues related to design and provide you the understanding to confidently address the code related questions relative to egress in your Code Review document.
Module 1 Quiz: Following the completion of this series of Topics and Lessons, please follow this link to Module 1 Quiz which is provided to help you review, retain and utilize material from this fundamental design material.
For this, and all future Module Quizzes, as well as with your Lesson Learning Checks, please feel free to utilize the Lesson materials (recordings, resource materials and Lesson pdfs) to help you work through, understand and complete the questions.
