Lesson Overview

This lesson will introduce Energy Codes as a general set of design requirements and guidelines, focussing on the specifics of the Michigan Energy Code and how this relates to building design.

Lesson Goals

The goal of this Lesson is to inform you of the intentions of energy codes in general and the Michigan Energy Code in specific. You will become familiar language and graphics of the MEC and understand some basic building performance requirements and how these will influence your initial schematic design strategies in studio and later development of your building facades and wall sections.
